GENERAL SUMMARY
Responsible for leading the manufacturing team on all plant tasks and deliverables, to ensure product quotations and launches meet company and customer expectations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Quotation and Launch Manager is responsible for managing the quoting to launch process by executing and coordinating all activities involved, ensuring accuracy and timeliness throughout the entire workflow.
  • Develops manufacturing methods, equipment and processes for programs.
  • Defines equipment utilization, floor space requirements, process flow and layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency. Meets the customer's capacity requirements and targeted cycle times.
  • Engineers manufacturing processes collaboratively with product engineering to ensure manufacturable product designs which utilize standard production processes, equipment and methods.
  • Writes equipment and process specifications. Purchases, installs and debugs effective equipment that meets all financial and quality requirements for new products and programs.
  • Defines cycle time, balanced work content in manufacturing cells and stations and plant process staffing requirements and costs. Ensure that processes and product designs meet the customer's and Cooper's expectations and financial targets.
  • Ensures equipment and manufacturing processes are ready and available for customer critical events including run at rate, PPAP and critical builds for customer MRDs.
  • Responsible for creating, updating and maintaining all manufacturing and process engineering documents.
  • Creates the manufacturing bill of materials process flow diagrams, process failure mode effective analysis (PFMEA) and tooling authorization to proceed (TATP).
  • Creates all equipment and process preventive maintenance schedules and procedures.
  • Applies lean principles to new product launches including minimizing WIP, ergonomic workstations, visual management and 6S. Utilizes the concepts of continuous improvement and cost reduction in the execution of the job function.
  • Applies statistical methods to solve problems and improve manufacturing processes.
  • Creates and maintains program launch timelines and operations issue list.
  • Ensures housekeeping and health and safety standards are maintained. Adheres to all corporate and plant level rules and regulations.
  • Supports an attitude of teamwork and contributes to continuous improvements.
  • Understands the importance of quality and assists in the achievement and maintenance of ISO 9001 & IATF 16949 certifications.

REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing or industrial engineering preferred
  • 2-4 years in manufacturing or process engineering in the production environment
  • Automotive manufacturing experience a plus

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to perform time and motion studies
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques
  • Ability to develop and implement manufacturing layouts, processes and changes, equipment specifications and ergonomic evaluations
  • Excellent knowledge and execution of problem solving
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in computer applications (Word, Excel, Project & AutoCad)

REQUIRED DECISION-MAKING AND ORGANIZATION IMPACT

  • Must make decisions that have a significant impact on the timing and quality of the customer’s product.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

  • Reports to the Plant Manager.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Manufacturing atmosphere with time spent on the manufacturing floor and in an office environment.
  • Must wear safety glasses with side shields and safety toe shoes when on the manufacturing floor.
