POSITION:     CONTRACT QUALITY LAB TECHNICIAN

LOCATION:   STRATFORD MIXING

SALARY – 24.86 per hour

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for performing the required tests on all production batches made in the mixing facility to ensure that only Quality material is released to our customers.

Comparing results of this material to the required specifications and issuing promptly the approval of all conforming material and notifying promptly the supervisor of all non-compliance material.

Observation of test data and notifying QA Supervisor and / or production supervisor of trends.

Rheologic MDR testing and Viscometer MV2000 Testing.

Durometer testing – prepare buttons, test for hardness, compare to specifications and log all results.

Using braebender to make ribbons to perform the dispersion testing, retaining ribbons and archiving monthly.

Microscope – to investigate any dispersion issues / Quality concerns.

Operation of Densitech, logging results and retaining records.

Testing of all extrusion material after tubing process – testing, logging batch numbers to maintain traceability from original batch identification to the new identification with customer part number etc.

Keeping quality records of all test data results from batches mixed, archived monthly and retained minimum of 1 year. (filing first off sheets).

Creating and retaining records of all non-conformance material and keeping records of all retest results.

Testing and maintaining records of Alert batches – extra testing required before approvals.

Testing and distributing records of all lab developmental batches.

Daily correlations of lab test equipment.

Weekly Maintenance of Lab Test Equipment to ensure machines are calibrated and acceptable for use.

Shelf-life studies as requested minimum of 1 per compound per year.

Customer concern testing. – Complete retesting of all customer concerns, MDR’s, MV’s, T5’s, Ribbons, Densities, and Durometers.

Any additional testing as requested on LTR’s submitted by Chemists, MDR’s, MV’s, T5’s, Ribbons, Densities, and Durometers.

Informal overview (understanding) of IATF 16949 requirements – following procedures to ensure Quality and Customer Satisfaction.

Single Stream Recycling

General housekeeping and maintaining cleanliness of the lab (organized and tidy, floors etc)

Comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations, the Workers Safety Insurance Act and the Cooper Standard Automotive Health, Safety and Environment Procedures.

Other duties as required

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

High school education – Grade 12

On-the-job training is provided

Good interpersonal skills

Data Entry experience

Good Verbal and Written Communication Skills

Must be available and able to work overtime during week and weekends
