DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

-Directly supervises material handlers, shippers and receiving personnel.  Develops manpower plans to support these activities and continually adjust for volume changes and productivity improvements. 

-Ensures that company health and safety requirements are followed and that policies are developed to maintain a safe work environment.  Responsible for housekeeping and safety practices in all warehouse and plant storage areas.

-Develops a master schedule for all extrusion lines and manufacturing finishing cells, which is the basis for the weekly planning process.

-Prepares the weekly extrusion and finishing POCS plans for discussion and agreement with plant management.  Maintains attainment performance reports for both extrusion and finishing areas.

-Reviews customer demands daily and creates the daily shortage report which is issued to all plant supervision.  This report indicates customer daily requirements and our current inventory position against those requirements.

-Maintains container tracking of returnable containers from all customers.

-Acts as backup for the Production Control Manager and other positions in the department. 

-Assists the Production Control Manager in establishing inventory targets for finished goods and space planning for finished goods and WIP storage.

-Maintains an accurate inventory of all finished goods and parts through effective scanning, storage, and cycle count practices.   

-Maintains a daily record of forklift checks and ensures that any required maintenance issues with material handling equipment are immediately dealt with.

-Other duties as required.  

   

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

Post-secondary education in Supply Change Management.

Materials Management certification preferred or equivalent experience.

Material Control supervisory experience in an OE Automotive Tier 1 supplier environment.

Advanced level experience with computerized material control systems. (BPCS / SAP)

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Attention to detail and high degree of accuracy in work product.

Sense of urgency in dealing with customer demands.

Ability to effectively multitask under pressure.

Advanced level Excel and Microsoft Office skills.

Experience with Ford, Chrysler, GM and other customer systems.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
